TMC 2008 Ball Kid Contest Kicks Off

　　The Ball Kid Contest in 2006 and 2007 has been proved as an excellent platform for Shanghai middle school students to showcase their liveliness, passion and excellence. Winners of the Ball Kid Contest have the opportunity to serve at the Tennis Masters Cup. Envied by their peers, the winners benefit a lot from the memorable experience of winning the ball kid contest and serving in the world renowned tennis tournament. The Organizing Committee of the Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai 2008 now invite all middle school students in Shanghai to participate in Ball Kid Contest 2008 and gain the opportunity to have a close contact with world top tennis players.

　　Qualification of Participants

　　Middle school students of Shanghai aged from 12 to 17 (no gender limit)

　　Ⅰ. Application

　　Download Application Form: Please print and fill the form with a recent photo of the participant affixed. To get an application number, please send “1” to 106582228 via cell phone SMS from June 18 to July 6. The suggested testing time for each applicant will be announced at www.masters-cup.com.cn on July 4.

　　Ⅱ. First-round contest

　　On-site Application and Testing: Participants should go to Yichuan Middle School with his/her application form to attend the on-site physical fitness testing and tennis knowledge quiz. The on-site testing will be held from 9:30am to 4:30pm on July 5 and 6, 2008, Participants of top 120 will enter interview phase.

　　Ⅲ. Second-round contest

　　Interview for Top 120: In this part, experts will test participants’ reaction capability, psychological quality and English communication skills. The interview will be held in Mid July, and top 30 will be announced a week later.

　　(Remark: Top 30 participants in 2007 can directly enter interview phase, except for the 10 official ball kids.)

　　Ⅳ. Tennis Summer Camp for Top30

　　Summer Camp for Top 30: Participants of top 30 will receive trainings on tennis knowledge, ball kid skills and tennis skills in the summer camp in late July, 2008.

　　Tennis Campus Promotion of Top 30: Each Top 30 participant should individually work out a promotion plan to promote knowledge of tennis sports and Masters Cup, as well as ball kid services in their own schools during August and September,2008.

　　Ⅴ. Final result announcement

　　Final Result Announcement: The final winners of this year’s Ball Kid Contest will be announced in Mid October, 2008. The best 10 participants will serve in the Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai 2008 as official ball kids.

　　Serving in the Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai 2008: The 10 ball kids will serve in the Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai 2008 from December 9 to 16, 2008.

　　Outstanding Ball Kids: According to the performance in the Summer Camp and on-site court services during August and December, the best 2 ball kids shall have the opportunity to visit Wimbledon in 2009. They will be selected from the 10 official ball kids through cell phone SMS from audience.

　　Awards:

　　Participants: each participant will be given a souvenir.

　　Top 120: each winner will be awarded with a family package of tickets of Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai 2008.

　　Top 30: each winner may join the summer camp free of charge; he/she also gains the right to invite all his/her classmates to watch the match of Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai 2008 for one day free of charge.

　　10 official ball kids: each winner may serve in Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai 2008; He/she will also become the official ball kid of ATP Masters Series2009; According to the performance of the on-site court services, the best 2 ball kids will have the opportunity to visit Wimbledon in 2009.
